How about a beauty smoothie?!

Smoothies are a great way to meet your daily nutritional values. It's quick, portable, and can taste great if you know what your doing. Smoothies serve many purposes but did you know you can design your very own smoothies to benefit your skin care routine? That's right smoothies that taste good and helps your skin look amazing!



Here are a few recipes to help you boost your skin care routine without the use of pills and needles. 



Anti-inflammatory Smoothie


This is great for reducing inflammation from the inside out. Infammation in the skin is the most common problem in dermatology. It can cause itchy skin, redness, rashes, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and acne.  These flare ups can be acute or chronic. They can be brought on by stress or poor diet.  If you suffer from any of these conditions try adding this smoothie to your routine. 


Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie


1C Collard greens

1C Spinach 

Handful of Parsely

1C Blueberries fresh or frozen( for thickness)

1 Banana

1C Mango fresh or frozen (for thickness)

2 tsp ground flaxseed 

1 tsp turmeric 

1 tsp grated Ginger

1 1/2 C coconut milk

1/2 C coconut water or water



Blend greens and liquids first until well blended, add fruit and blend for 1 minute, then add flaxseed, turmeric, and ginger blend for 30-60 seconds. Enjoy!! 


Turmeric and Ginger are a great natural anti-inflammatory, use as much as you'd like. If you want it really thick, do 2 cups of coconut milk and no coconut water/water. 

Glowing Skin Smoothie 


This a great starting point for this recipe. The grapefruit is a great metabolism booster, chia seeds provide you with a daily dose of calcium, and the flaxseeds are rich in omegas. Feel free to swap out or add your favorite fruits. Have fun with this one!


Glowing Skin Smoothie


1C Kale

1C Spinach 

1/2 fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

1 banana

1C Fresh or Frozen strawberries 

1/2 C Pomegranate seeds

1 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp ground flaxseeds

1 tsp coconut oil

2 C Almond Milk


Blend greens and liquids first until well blended, add fruit and blend for 1 minute, then add flaxseed, chia, coconut oil, and pomegranate seeds, blend for 30-60 seconds. 




Green Smoothie 


This is a great Skin boosting recipe and gives your skin everything it needs. This one is pretty filling so it's a great way to start your day and carry you until lunchtime. 


1C Kale

1C Spinach 

Handful of parsley 

1/2 Avocado 

1C Kiwi 

1C Pineapple

1/2 Green Apple

1/2 fresh squeezed lemon juice

1 tsp Coconut oil

2C Coconut water


This smoothie is filling, hydrating, and full of nutrients to help boost metabolism, increase blood flow, and aid in digestion which all are ways to improves overall circulation and push out toxins out of your body. 


There a literally thousands of variations one could come up with when making smoothies. So find the ones you like the best but always try to follow these few tips to always make the perfect smoothie.

  • USE A 60/40 ratio of greens to fruits

  • Always add some type of boost (i.e. Flax,chia, coconut oil, protein, etc)

  • Blend liquid and greens first until well incorporated then add fruit

  • When using Flaxseeds always use ground. The body absorbs them better. Buy whole and grind at home

  • Use Organic fruits and veggies when available. Follow the Dirty Dozen list at 

  • Try to stick with seasonal fruits and veggies when opting for freshness they have the most nutritional value. Frozen fruits is a good alternative for your favorites when not in season

  • Have one a day

  • Have fun!!!



Trying to always eat the right things can feel overwhelming. Just know that something is better than nothing. So whether you do this daily or weekly you're still doing wonders for your body.....and your skin will thank you!
